How Loud is That Again?

  • Normal conversation is usually at a level of about 60dB.
  • 90dB+ to 100dB is very loud.
  • If you’re presenting in a quiet room with an attentive audience then 60 – 75dB will probably be loud enough.
  • But to talk “over” people who are laughing then you’ll need to get to about 80dB or even for a big crowd 100dB
  • If you want people to get up and dance then you’re looking at somewhere around 100dB.
  • Sustained exposure to levels above 85dB will cause hearing damage.
